A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Funeral
Celebrant

Respectful,
Personal and Memorable.

A funeral led by a professional civil celebrant is an opportunity to come together and celebrate a life lived. Together we can build a ceremony that tells the story of your loved one’s life and does full justice to how special and unique they were and how sorely they will be missed.

When a loved one dies, it is always a very painful and distressing time and there are inevitably, decisions to be taken about the funeral. Perhaps the most important question of all is, what kind of funeral do you really want?

Every family is different and not everyone wants the same type of funeral. The choice may be influenced by religious and cultural traditions, personal preferences, or by the express wishes of the deceased.

A civil funeral ceremony is appropriate for either a cremation or burial and although it is often held in a crematorium or chapel, it can be held at a variety of locations to ensure the setting itself is as personal as the ceremony.

The ceremony itself may include music, readings, poetry and symbolic gestures such as candles and photographs. Religious or spiritual elements such as prayers and hymns can be included. Or the ceremony can be entirely non-religious.

Everything is put together with my support to create a bespoke ceremony that is respectful, personal and memorable.

You will be involved in the process of creating the ceremony from the very beginning. Resulting in a tribute that truly captures the essence of the person and tells a suitable story about their life.  The most important thing to remember is that this is a service of your choosing.

I’m here to help and support you on this difficult journey so if you have any further questions and would like any further information please get in touch.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions, if you can’t find your answer then please get in touch.

What is a Civil Funeral Ceremony?

A Civil Funeral Ceremony is about celebrating the life and personality of a loved one. It often takes place at a crematorium or non-religious burial site. Sometimes it is a memorial ceremony or burial of ashes after a funeral.

The ceremony can be non-religious or contain religious elements such as hymns, readings or prayers. It can also include elements of different faiths.

What is the role of a Civil Funeral Celebrant?

As a civil funeral celebrant, I meet with the family and friends of a person who has passed away. My focus will be on the service and how to use that time to pay tribute to your loved one.

During our discussion we will put in place an order of service, as well as creating a eulogy or tribute to be read at the funeral. As your celebrant I would usually lead the service, standing at the front and addressing the congregation as well as inviting up anyone you have chosen to take part in offering readings, prayers or music.

My main role as your celebrant is to carry out the wishes of your loved one, their family and friends.

How creative can we be with the funeral service?

There are very few restrictions on what you can have at a civil funeral, so I would advise you to be as creative as possible with the additional touches to offer your loved one the very best final farewell that they would have wanted.

          Dad’s funeral

Thank you very much for leading the service for my Dad yesterday. Your contribution was invaluable – the words were put very eloquently, and the whole service gave a good account of my Dad. Several people from the congregation commented on how good the service was.

          Highly Recommend

Harry was brilliant and delivered a lovely service for my Son. He took his time to really get to know all about Danny and was patient with me and my family while we decided exactly what we wanted included within the service.
He was extremely professional in his delivery, the words he wrote were beautiful, he truly captured all of what Danny was perfectly.
